周武元上海交通大学上海交通大学密西根学院教授, IEEE Fellow。加入上海交通大学之前，担任美国北卡罗莱纳州立大学（North Carolina State University）教授，先进诊断与自动控制实验室（Advanced Diagnosis, Automation and Control Laboratory）创始人与负责人，浙江大学求是讲座教授，SAS特聘咨询顾问，ABB访问科学家。
近期研究聚焦于智能电网中的分布式控制以及故障诊断等技术的应用，作为项目负责人承担了多项美国政府及企业资助项目。他担任IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics期刊合作主编（曾在2010-2012担任主编），IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics期刊合作主编，并曾担任IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics期刊编委，以及多个期刊专刊的客座编委。他曾在2006-2007年担任IEEE Industrial Electronics Society出版委员会副主席，2001-2002年担任IEEE Industrial Electronics Society成员委员会副主席，以及IEEE-IECON05，IEEE-IECON10，IEEE-ISIE12等学术会议的主席。他曾兼任日本学术振兴会高级会员，获得IEEE北卡选区杰出工程师教育奖章，Joseph M. Biedenbach奖章，杰出贡献奖章，IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Anthony J Hornfeck奖章等多项荣誉。截至目前，他出版专著1本，合作出版多本专著章节，发表超过200篇的期刊与会议论文，谷歌学术引用超过2万次，H-index 66。

岗位职责
|
A Networked MicroGrid (NMG) is the operation of multiple networked microgrids (MGs) in coordination with distribution systems with high penetration of locally available batteries and distributed energy resources (DERs) such as rooftop photovoltaics, rooftop wind turbines, etc. We have been investing and developing enabling technologies including control and management algorithms, models, and AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) techniques for energy systems, smart micro- and nano-grids, batteries, and electric vehicles.
We will investigate and develop theory and methodologies including topology design, paradigms used, learning algorithm parameters settings, exemplars used, adaptation stability regions analyses, etc., to develop the Smart Collaborative Distributed Energy Management System (SCoDEMS) technology for NMGs. We will explore (1) the reconfiguration of the cyber and physical layers of the NMG to maintain optimal performance under large disturbances and changing operating conditions, and (2) the use of local management adaptation on batteries and DERs to optimize their performances due to local uncertainties, errors, and perturbations.
We are exploring AI-inspired, distributed, collaborative, real-time technologies for SCoDEMS. The technologies are modular, flexible, adaptable, scalable, and reconfigurable and uses plug-and-play controllers that are readily integrated into new and existing infrastructure, making it a natural enabler for many important applications. The SCoDEMS will continuously adapt the distributed energy devices (DER) dispatching in the physical layer and routing in the cyber layer to provide optimal NMG performance under changing operating conditions with scalable system with plug-and-play capabilities.
